CePRC: Who we are…The Canadian e-Policy Resource Centre (CePRC) addresses a critical need expressed by a wide array of African stakeholders: to build capacity in the formulation of national and sub-regional ICT strategies and policies. In 2007-08, the CePRC will specifically address the following themes identified as key African priorities in the area of ICT for Development (ICT4D): ICT policy and regulation; e-government, gender ICT policies, e-trade (including cyber-security), and ICT applications such as e-learning, e-health and geographic information systems. Based in Ottawa (Canada), the CePRC Secretariat responds to African requests by sending Canadian subject-matter experts to events planned and organized primarily in collaboration with ePol-NET Africa - managed by the United NationsEconomic Commission for Africa (ECA) - as well as with other Partners of the Global e-Policy Resource Network (ePol-NET). What we doThe Canadian e-Policy Resource Centre (CePRC) draws e-policy services and information products from Canadian government and non-government policy experts into a virtual resource centre. As a resource node for the Global ePolicy Resource Network (ePol-NET), the CePRC provides a uniquely Canadian perspective on the development of national e-strategies. African ICT policy makers obtain access to expertise, information and mentoring in the following fields:
Canada has long been at the forefront of both technology and its applications. As a nation of 30 million people scattered across a vast country with some of the toughest terrain and climate conditions on the planet, access to information is vital. The Government of Canada has made connectivity to its citizens a main priority and, over the past 10 years, has witnessed the successful transformation of governance, economies and cultures through the use of ICTs. CePRC is an initiative of the Canada Fund for Africa announced by the Government of Canada at the Kananaskis G8 Summit in June 2002. African governments and institutions requiring assistance from the CePRC
should channel their request through the UN
Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) or contact the
CePRC. CePRC will make every effort to present the documents on this site in accessible formats and in both French and English, however due to the originating nature of some of the documents, that objective is not always possible to attain. Should you have any questions please contact us. |
