African delegation of 47 participates in the 2007 CePRC e-Government Study Program and GTEC

The Canadian e-Policy Resource Center (CePRC) hosted 47 African delegates from 21 countries to a 3rd annual CePRC e-Government Study Program and the Government Technology Exhibition Conference - GTEC (www.gtec.ca) held in Ottawa, October 15-19, 2007. The Study Program is intended to complement and strengthen the ongoing e-policy development efforts of African countries by enabling key African policy makers to participate in this valuable networking and knowledge sharing medium. Equally advantageous, GTEC, which precedes the program, centers on innovation and advancements in governments' use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). Read full article...

TIGA Awards - a step in the right direction

Technology in Government in Africa (TIGA) Awards were presented for the first time in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on May 1, 2007 recognizing achievements made by African governments in the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in improving socio-economic conditions throughout the continent. Organized in conjunction with the ECA’s Fifth Committee on Development Information (CODI V) Conference, the TIGA Awards acknowledged the tremendous efforts made by the 12 winning project teams. Regional e-Government Framework for the East African Community (EAC) Approved

The Regional e-Government framework for ECA, promoting harmonization and sub-regional integration, was approved by the EAC Council of Ministers at the 8th Summit of EAC Heads of State, on November 30th, 2006. http://www.eac.int/news_2006_8th_summit_communique.pdf

Access to expertise, information and technical assistance offered by the CePRC, was an important contribution in moving this agenda forward.
